How was the cabaret born? Where does the French Cancan come from? What role did Joséphine Baker, or even Mistinguett, play in the evolution of the art? The photographic exhibition Cabaret(s) - A Living Legacy, as part of the Cabaret Season, invites us to look back on this extraordinary adventure. It offers a journey in images where light, costumes, bodies and movements interwine, weaving a narrative of creation, freedom and heritage.

Also recognized as part of the Bicentennial of Photography, the exhibition showcases photographic series organized into five themes centered on the diversity of cabaret, its ability to cross eras and great figures who have shaped its history...

The exhibition, for which Véronique Prugnaud, co-founder and co-director of The Eyes / Eyes Wide Open, is the artistic director, will tour four venues until December 17 in four locations:

  • in Reims, at the Manège, national theatre, from September 19 to December 18;
  • in Paris, at the Square du Temple (75003) from September 22 to December 18;
  • in Lyon, at the Maison de la danse, from November 3 to December 17;
  • in Blois, at the Halle aux Grains, from November 9 to December 18.

 Discover the presentation text of the exhibition, written by journalist, author and cabaret artist Céline du Chéné.
